This Humboldt lab exhibition involves four juxtaposing ‘throne rooms’, curated by Konstantin Grcic, Kirstine Roepstorff, Simon Starling and Ai Weiwei protégé Zhao Zhao respectively as mise-en-scènes of the Chinese imperial throne from the Kangxi era (1662-1722) – a time of wealth and stability bookended by chaos. What makes this show especially appealing are the juxtapositions between the occidental and non-occidental artists of our contemporary times.
