Trust West-Berlin standard Komödie am Kurfürstendamm to give Tennessee Williams’ masterpiece impeccable period costumes and alluring, vintage style: it looks picture-perfect. The only problem is that The Glass Menagerie isn’t Mad Men – it’s not really a play about the roaring 1930s, it’s a play about memory. Let’s hope director Katharina Thalbach carefully portrays the characters’ own sense of longing as well as she plays to the audience’s nostalgia. Check website for dates and times. Through April 17.
