To Jacob

Hey, I am German. I've lived here for nearly 12 years. And even if I weren't, why aren't Ausländer allowed to rant about this country?

Question: How many of you guys really know anything at all about what you like to refer to as "Germany"? How often have you guys even left your comfy East Berlin expat bubble and got an idea of what this country is like, what people are up to today outside of that handful of hipster districts? What exactly qualifies you to condemn it so harshly based on the little fragment you have experienced of it? The arrogance and ignorance regarding this country's efforts in the field of integration (as poorly designed and unsuccessfully carried out as they may be at times) shown in this article and the comment above is outrageous.
"Will Germany ever get to the point of multiculturalism?" Maybe not, but let's all just hope that with some more of the priceless lessons on how to deal with racial tensions from our distinguished guests from the anglo-saxon world (which clearly is the role model as far as this subject is concerned) we might get there eventually.
However, it's great to see that your (unfortunately temporary, as I have to assume) stay here will be good for something: At least you'll value the liberty and tolerance in your home countries once you get back. After all, Germany is the evil empire and has changed very little over the past decades.

German multiculturalism - a contradiction in terms?

Meanwhile, Kreuzberg's so-called "left wing" scene is plastering the entire kiez with anti-tourist propaganda, giving Berlin's repressed Nazis a new place to vent their anti-auslander views... and everybody turns a blind eye. Will Germany ever get the point of multiculturalism? Not in the next 50 years if current indications are anything to go by!
