The Lakino posse keep it short and sweet with the fourth edition of the Lakino Short Film Festival, having last year divvied up their abundant cache of cinematic treats from and about all corners of Latin America into two festivals: this month’s spread, and feature films (running in October).

Over 100 shorts will grace three of Berlin’s most venerable cinematic institutions – Kinos Babylon and Lichtblick, and revamped gem Ehemaliges Stummfilmkino Delphi, where the opening ceremony will crank things into gear – in themed showcases of around feature length.

2014’s focus is Brazil (Brazil in Fokus, with four programmes), but the festival’s wide scope will also hone in on powerhouse Argentine writer Julio Cortázar (100 Years Cortázar) and the beautiful game (Football, Only Football), as well as LGBTQ perspectives (Cross Border).
