Desperate measures

OUT NOW! If the Walton's were cannibals, the outcome would have been SOMOS LO QUE HAY.

When the head and ‘breadwinner’ of a cannibal family dies of poisoning, the family structure has to be reformed. Mother and kids depend on human meat, so finding a replacement for the father is a matter of life and death. In Grau’s story, cannibals are a by-product of anonymity in big cities, as the human race descends into depravity. More disturbing than the images of bloody death are the looks on people’s faces when they board a city bus like it’s a deli on wheels.

SOMOS LO QUE HAY | Directed by Jorge Michael Grau, with Francisco Barreiro, Paulina Gaitán (Mexico, 2010). Opens June 2
