Barely more than an average action movie, hardly even qualifying as a thriller and more than just reminiscent of Roman Polanski’s Frantic, Unknown throws Martin (Neeson) on a trip to Berlin with his wife Liz (Jones, of Mad Men-fame) and into a stolen-identity plot. Martin gets into an accident and, upon awakening from a four-day coma, finds that his wife (Jones) doesn’t recognize him and that another man has assumed his identity. Alone and questioning his sanity, he finds Diane Kruger, the universally usable Swiss Army Knife of multinational film productions, and sets out to find out who he really is.
UNKNOWN | Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (UK, Germany et al. 2011) with Liam Neeson, January Jones, Diane Kruger. Opens March 3
