El Clan relates with aesthetic flair the crimes carried out by the Puccio family during the years following the military dictatorship in Argentina in the 1980s. It’s above all a film about opposites: the relationship between father and son, the public and the private, and the transition from an autocratic to a democratic state. Trapero manages to investigate these contrasts with detail, whilst also giving us something funny, sexy, violent and a little surreal along the way.
El Clan | Directed by Pablo Trapero (Argentina, Spain 2015) with Guillermo Francella, Peter Lanzani. Starts March 3.
