Mommy issues

OUT NOW! Austria puts itself on the genre map with ICH SEH, ICH SEH, a tight, clean film that keeps the focus on the scare factor.

While its largely
incident-based narrative
lacks the heft of a truly
clever script, notions of
identity and motherhood
 are questioned with
impressive sharpness and
brutal consequences in this somewhat different horror flick. Angular, surgically clean production design helps maintain an oppressive atmosphere throughout and bold directorial strokes keep you at the edge of your seat. Depicting cruelty of the hair-raising sort, the film’s final act is not for the faint of heart but pure catnip for genre fans.
