“Invasion” depicts the gradual unravelling of well-off widower Josef’s (Burghart Klaußner) nerves as alleged extended family members arrive at his mansion in steady droves to invade his home and life.
In the course of 102 intense minutes, boundaries are pushed and sensitivities shaken, whilst tensions escalate to deliver dramatic conclusions. Getting into its stride after a laborious start, the film serves up heavy doses of black humour for a bit of welcome relief from the strain of following the strange, bordering on nonsensical, twists and turns. In German.
Invasion | Directed by Dito Tsintsadze (Austria, Germany 2013) with Burghart Klaußner, Merab Ninidze, Heike Trinker. Starts February 28
