Mum is AWOL in Berlin’s party scene, so 10-year-old Jack does what he can to care for his younger brother but ends up in a state home after a hot bathwater incident. He absconds, finds his brother slumming it and sets out on with him on an odyssey through Berlin in search of mother. Only to find that mothers and homes are moveable concepts. Berger’s jumpy portrait of two boys navigating millennial parenting avoids social indictment: the rage at responsibility speaks for itself.
