Bay Youm came to Berlin from Senegal in 1989, just three months before the Wall came down. Since then he’s been involved in the Mitte nightlife scene, running bars such as Bergstübl’ and, most recently, Kommerzpunk on Rosenthaler Platz.

19:30 Naan pizza or tortilla wrap dinner at Gordon W. Imbiss.

22:00 Off to Golden Gate, Kommerzpunk, Schokoladen and finally King Size

11:00 A late-morning consumer’s programme at Winterfeldmarkt.

12:00 On to Mauerpark, already eating just-purchased food – or, if it is raining, to Buchkantine, reading around the world through books and magazines.

14:00 An excursion to Modulor.

19:00 To the Teehaus at Englischer Garten, for live funk/blues in the rampant green of a rainy summer.

10:00 A late breakfast at Morena Bar.

12:00 At Yaam, I play basketball while my sugar heads for the climbing wall.

14:00 I stay there for lunch, enjoying the exotic food.

22:00 Keeping the atmosphere at Acudkino, watching Bar 25 – Tage ausserhalb der Zeit, a documentary on the fallen club.
