He’s a rich family’s black sheep, whose only success is scoring women. She’s an artist with Parkinson’s disease. Love and Other Drugs is an untraditional story that falls into the traditional Hollywood trap. Despite some real moments, the characters never truly reveal themselves, with Hathaway and Gyllenhaal clinging to genre boilerplate, even though we know that they are capable of delivering solid performances.
