OUT NOW! THE INFIDEL draws on classic English slapstick to poke fun at religion.

When Muslim Mahmud takes charge of his mother’s estate after her death, he comes across his birth certificate – and learns that he was actually born a Jew. The discovery and the ensuing re-evaluation of his past turn his life upside-down. To make matters worse, his soul-searching coincides with his son introducing his fiancée’s family, which includes some very fundamentalist members. Drawing on classic English slapstick, misunderstandings and political satire, The Infidel is genuinely fun and likely to be enjoyed by Muslims, Jews, and everyone in between.

THE INFIDEL | Directed by Josh Appignanesi (UK 2010) with Omid Djalili, Richard Schiff. Opens June 30
