Sobering tenderness

OUT NOW! The film STOCKHOLM is a small wonder film exploring the gender-game.

A happy-golucky young man meets a beautiful but evidently damaged young woman at a party in Madrid. He declares his love, she’s not interested but he pursues her and wins the night. Then it’s the morning after. Almost entirely dialogue-based, Sorogoyen’s (co-)scripted gender-game is a vision of sobering tenderness, delivering the contrast of nocturnal scenarios and white-walled claustrophobia as brilliant metaphors for control and release in a combustive chamber piece. Sometimes, it’s the small films that pack the meanest punch.

Stockholm | Directed by Rodrigo Sorogoyen (Spain 2013) with Javier Pereira, Aura Garrido. Starts April 16
