In its place, the makers of the globe-trotting documentary advocate systemic economic change and insist on the importance of local communities. English as lingua franca is not always fully fluent but facilitates communication. Many of these concepts were formulated decades ago by E.F. Schumacher in Small is Beautiful. Fortunately (or unfortunately), they bear repeating.
