Everybody was kung fu fighting

OUT NOW! Fit but flawed, THE GRANDMASTER is at its best in a fight.

With The Grandmaster, Wong presents the latest of several films chronicling the life of Ip Man (Leung), the legendary martial artist who redefined kung fu and counted Bruce Lee amongst his many students. Although a significant improvement from his last effort, the rather awful My Blueberry Nights, The Grandmaster does not constitute a return to form for the Hong Kong auteur. Nevertheless, the abundance of perfectly choreographed and exquisitely shot fighting scenes makes for a thoroughly entertaining spectacle.

The Grandmaster | Directed by Wong Kar-Wai (Hong Kong, China, USA 2012) with Tony Leung, Ziyi Zhang. Starts June 27.
