Civil sass

OUT NOW! Based on the Kathryn Stockett novel of the same name THE HELP is a fun look into the civil rights era.

It’s the early 1960s in Jackson, Mississippi, the civil rights movement is in full swing and Skeeter (Stone), an upper-class society girl, returns home from university on a quest to become a successful journalist. Desperate to win the approval (and employment) of a high-end NYC magazine editor, she breaks all conventions, as well as the state’s entrenched segregation laws, by deciding to expose the plight of African American housemaids. Skeeter’s quest and the unlikely friendships forged throughout convincingly illuminate the decade’s racial discrimination.

The Help | Directed by Tate Taylor (USA, 2011) with Emma Stone, Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer. Starts December 8.
