With this multi-award-nominated effort, Jason Reitman delivers an effective fusion of poignant satire and romantic comedy: a thought-provoking commentary on the superficial nature of a modern lifestyle based on technology and travel, as well as a reflection on the recent economic downturn.

Up in the Air looks at the life of Ryan Bingham (Clooney, in a role that fits him like a glove), a man who fires people for a living and spends most of his days in Business Class.

Devoid of any meaningful connection with other human beings, Bingham relishes his shallow and luxurious existence. But when his boss hires young, ambitious Natalie Keener (Kendrick), who attempts to restructure the entire company, and an attractive businesswoman (Farmiga), Bingham is forced to face the soulless realities of his work and the emptiness of life without a home.
