This is the movie you’re not supposed to like. The story feels oddly familiar – a man who pretends he’s married in order to stay unattached has now met the woman of his dreams and convinces his secretary to pose as his soon-to-be-divorced wife in order to get away with his lie. Guess who he will be marrying in the end? Just Go With It is corny, rife with cliché and coloured in the soft pastels that Hollywood has been using in the last few years to make their stars look more tanned and the setting more sparkly. But even despite Sandler’s faceless acting and Aniston’s replay of her last ten characters, the odd couple and the cheesy giggles become sort of entertaining – especially thanks to a pair of ridiculously cool kids who play Aniston’s children.
JUST GO WITH IT | Directed by Dennis Dugan (USA 2011) with Adam Sandler, Jennifer Aniston. Opens February 24
