Neukölln’s premier breakfast spot Lagari plays host to Berlin’s first annual chili cookoff! On Sat, May 17, catch some hot music, bourbon and chillies. On hand to judge are Exberliner’s own D. Strauss and Maurice Frank.
Something very spicy is being served up in Neukölln. Bringing together a host of Berlin’s hottest cafes and restaurants, including Nalu Diner, Maria Bonita, Mezcaleria Berlin and others, Exberliner co-sponsors a first-of-a-kind Berlin chili cook off! Five euros buys you three bowls of chili from a total of nine types, so there is no need to be deep of pocket, though you might need to be loose of trouser. No horses will be harmed in the making of the chili, and, for those that are veggie- inclined, no other animals need be harmed either with a range of vegetarian and vegan chilies available.
Judged by Exberliner’s own D. Strauss and Maurice T. Frank alongside Per Meurling of Berlin Food Stories and Camilla Noon the ‘average, everyday diner’, the winning recipe will be published by Exberliner.
After all that self-indulgence, what better than the opportunity to burn off those calories dancing to live music courtesy of Sarah Farina, BLVCK TEENS and DJ Murphcauley Culkin. All this will be suitably lubricated with a range of special drink prices and some extra-special Makers Mark concoctions.
