This year, 23 restaurants in Berlin and 2 in Brandenburg were awarded Michelin stars. Berlin is actually the fanciest city in Germany when it comes the exclusive list: it has more starred restaurants than any other German city, with 23 restaurants making the cut.
Of these, Rutz on Mitte’s Chausseestraße kept its highest possible ranking of 3 stars. This year also saw 2 Berlin restaurants — vegetarian bistro Bonvivant in Schöneberg and theNOname in Mitte — receive their first stars.
Overall, it seems that the Grand Michelin Guide is generally pleased with German gastronomy, with a total of 334 restaurants in Germany awarded Michelin stars – more than ever before.
The official press release strongly emphasised that — despite a difficult economic period and shortage of workers, the restaurants that received stars reflect high quality in the culinary arts.
