Coffee is good for you!

Coffee has a long history of being blamed for many ills — from stunting your growth to claims that it causes heart disease and cancer. But, according to the Mayo Clinic’s website, recent research indicates that coffee may not be so bad after all.

So which is it — is drinking coffee good or bad?

Another recent study, conducted by 23 international scientists for the World Health Organization (WHO), has found no connection between coffee and an increased risk of cancer.

The researchers evaluated the carcinogenicity of drinking coffee, maté, and very hot beverages. “The results suggest that it is the temperature, rather than the drinks themselves, that appears to be responsible,” says Dr Christopher Wild, IARC Director.

This conclusion represents a rare reversal from the organization’s position 25 years ago, when it cautioned that coffee was possibly carcinogenic.

So go coffee.
