1979 Born in Colorado. Classically educated, Butler begins composing in his early teens
1994 First DJ gig in a Denver leather bar run by a hostess named Chocolate Thunder Pussy.
1996 Moves to Brooklyn to study, where he meets Antony Hegarty from Antony and the Johnsons at a dinner party. They occasionally convene to record the single “Blind”, released years later.
2008 The eponymous breakthrough album Hercules and the Love Affair (DFA) is released. The single “Blind” is awarded the Best Song of 2008 by Pitchfork.
2011 After several personnel changes, including the departure of Hegarty, Blue Songs (Moshi Moshi), features a moodier take on the distinctive Andy Butler Nü Disco signature.
