The man who installed a double helix slide in the Tate Modern creates a Soma playground in the Hamburger Bahnhof – like Disneyland (the exhibit includes an on-site hotel-suite for those who want more than a day-trip), but with more mushrooms. Höller’s exhibition begs the question: is it enough to change the object of perception instead of perception itself? But is this the fictional Soma that narcotized Huxley’s Brave New World or the God-maker of the Persians? The substance of Höller’s inspiration is an open question.
