Fighting terror with perfect hair
The story of Hindi Hussein (Vanessa Redgrave), who opened the Dar Al-Tifl orphanage in Jerusalem in 1948. We follow a Palestinian orphan (Freida Pinto) who is trying to make sense of her identity in a country torn apart by violence. At times too ambitious, Miral tries to cover every landmark of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, at the same time focusing too much on the emotional side of the story.
MIRAL | Directed by Julian Schnabel (France, Israel 2010), with Freida Pinto, Willem Dafoe and Vanessa Redgrave. Opens November 18.
