Occi
Exberliner is pleased to sponsor five screenings of "Swansong: Story of Occi Byrne", Connor McDermottroe’s debut feature film.
With the Irish west coast providing stunning visuals, it charts Austin “Occi” Byrne’s path to emotional maturity. Adapted from a one-man monologue originally performed by the director himself, it shows Occi between the positive and negative poles of his life:love for his mother (Jodie Whittaker) and friend, Mary (Marcella Plunkett) versus absence of paternal influence and ensuing mental health issues.
Vacillation is inevitable and sometimes reflected in a lack of pace and clear resolution – or could this just be life? Check out the trailer here and then come judge for yourself.
As a special treat for all of you, director McDermottroe will also be in attendance on Sat, April 6 for Q&A afterwards, of course, in English.
