More than one can chew
Clearly a case of biting off more than one can chew. The entire production looks cheap, as a European film crew almost literally invades a South American country to film the story of a conquistador, only to be drawn into a modern colonial conflict over water rights. Staged, stilted discussions over ethics and morals, and a sappy ending, as the blundering Old Worlder finally learns to appreciate the value of true friendship from the noble savage, turn any originally well-meant intentions into their opposite.
También la lluvia (Und dann der Regen) | Directed by Icíar Bollaín (Spain et al. 2010) with Gael García Bernal, Luis Tosar. Starts December 29
