Win some
Small-town lawyer Mike is essentially a good guy, but in order to pay the bills, he pockets an elderly client’s money. No harm is really being done, but when old Leo’s teenage grandson shows up unexpectedly, Mike gets more involved with Leo’s family matters than Mike would like. Win Win is partly about America’s downsizing, partly about people living out their dreams through others, and partly about people trying to do the right thing. Sometimes a bit forced in order to bring the complicated story to a conclusion, the film is nonetheless well written, well acted and well paced.
WIN WIN | Directed by Thomas McCarthy (USA 2011) with Paul Giamatti, Amy Ryan. Opened July 21
