Senegalese: Kau Kau

You won't Kau Kau advertised anywhere, but insiders can enjoy a plate of Senegal’s famous national dish, Thiéboudienne, amongst other home cooked delights, served by owner and ex-Hertha BSC defender Gregoire Decosta himself.

At this friendly neighbourhood cocktail bar booming with reggae and hip hop, locals come in for more than just a pint. Although advertised nowhere, real Senegalese dishes are also on offer, served up by owner and ex-Hertha BSC defender Gregoire Decosta himself.

On any given day, insiders can enjoy a simple plate of Yassa chicken (in a garlic, mustard, and lemon sauce – Greg adds tomatoes and olives, €6) or Maafe beef (tomato and peanut butter sauce, €6), all served with rice and a lovely chilli sauce on the side.

And if you call ahead, you can order Senegal’s famous national dish, Thiéboudienne (marinated fish cooked with tomato and vegetables). Wash it down with a Nigerian Guinness (stronger than the Irish stuff, €3) and, if you’re lucky, catch some live music.
