Could you add the link for the environmental impact studies of asparagus from Spain versus those grown using plastic?
Also, do any farms actually compensate their workers or is this a set wage across the industry?

Spargelzeit

I was brought up in Gloucestershire in a house that had an established asparagus bed. One of my best memories is of eating the fat green shoots drenched in butter. If there is heaven in a taste that was it !
It seems to me that covering asparagus with earth removes the taste along with the colour.
From my point of view this is asparagus abuse.
I remember a friend taking me to "the best asparagus bed in Brandenburg". With a round trip of nearly four hours, we returned with asparagus that was still tasteless.
There are very few things the British can teach the Germans about food, but the delights of fresh green asparagus is one of them.
